Inspiration: Wendy's 60th Birthday Tea

Hello! This past weekend Wendy and her family celebrated her 60th birthday with a 'Mad Hatter's' Birthday Tea at the beautiful D'Ouwe Werf -  Food Emporium in Broadacres, Fourways. Due to dark and thundering clouds the party had to be moved inside, however I managed to take some pictures of the set-up in their beautiful, lush garden just in time! Here are a few photographs of the details of the day:

Debbie, Wendy's daughter in law who organised the party had the cute idea for the wording of the thank you tag: 'Thank you for celebrating this 'mad'stone with me' - Thank you Debbie for inspiring me!

Out and About: KAMERS vol geskenke online-shop

Hello! Today's 'Out and About' is more of an 'In and About'. I am sure that if you have been to KAMERS vol Geskenke in the past, you were just as excited as I am that they now have gone on-line. Off course we can't wait for the end of the year to go to KAMERS, however whilst we are waiting and keeping cosy this winter, there is the on-line shop to browse in the comfort of your own favourite chair {at the opening hours that suits you!}. My order was so beautifully and creatively packaged, I had to take a photo... before I got to the Bakers Twine and pretty Little White Bowl with a Red Heart that I spoiled myself with.

Out and About: Lafenis Deli + Bake Shop

Hello! I'm so excited to share this special little jewel with you! Lafenis Deli + Bake Shop
situated in the Lifestyle Shed, Karoo Kafee, Lynnwood Road, Pretoria. Lafenis is the passion of owner & chef Margaux Pieterse. This is the only place to buy the fabulous breads of the Bread Gypsy (email Margaux at gesels@lafenisdeli.co.za to place your order so that you are not disappointed!). She also stocks amazing hand-made cheeses, cold meats and yummy yummy jams and relishes. I had a sandwich with hummus, delicious roasted veggies, cheese and a drizzle of balsamic reduction. Also, I just had to try her special organic ice cream. The 'rocky road ice cream' was just fabulous and beautifully plated. Lafenis also sells the coffee that they serve.

If you feel like escaping the chaos of city life, make sure to visit Lafenis. They also take bookings for small birthdays, baby showers etc.

Out & About: DOUBLESHOT coffee & tea

Hello! We LOVE coffee.. okay maybe we are a bit fanatical. A few weekends ago on our way to visit the NeighbourGoods Market in Braamfontein, Johannesburg we accidentally found DOUBLESHOT as we were looking for parking. Off course we got side tracked, after all coffee is more important than breakfast. We were not disappointed, the coffee reminded me of Mammoth in London and being in nearly downtown Jozi that is being rejuvenated and uplifted made the experience just so worth while. DOUBLESHOT is rustic and authentic and I loved everything about it. Yesterday, again on our way to the market for breakfast we organised with friends to meet us there. Just to DOUBLE-check ;-), yes, yes the coffee is great... go by when you are in the area! Enjoy. Love Liezel

Out and About: Croc City

We decided to kick off 2012 with getting to know our area a bit better and show Lilli some animals. Croc City is not even 10 minutes away from Fourways and I was so impressed with how clean and well maintained everything was. Our guide was very well informed and passionate about the reptiles and crocodiles. The chance to hold a baby nile crocodile and to become up close and personal with Elvis, the Albino Burmese Python was quite a mind shift! They also have a beautiful play area for the children and offer tribal dancing as well, we will definitely visit again to experience that...

Out and About: Vovo Telo {Parkhurst}

Hello. As I was sorting out our 2011 photographs to try and get some order before 2012 arrives, I stumbled  upon a few photo's of  Vovo Telo {in Parkhurst}. I just loved this brand since we discovered the one in 44 on Stanley. What a wonderful way to start the day with really good bread, honest ingredients and a fantastic cup of coffee. Watching the bakers is an added bonus. I also love their salads and the Orange & Almond Cake... mmm maybe we should go tomorrow...
